Planting Rice Paddy Field with Biking into Duong Lam village

Duong Lam village

The wet-rice cultures of South East Asia present a trio of familiar images: rice, water buffaloes, and bamboo.
Duong Lam,the old village in the North West of 50 km way from Hanoi, is appeared over 3000-4000 years ago with the main style of ferralitic architecture. Duong Lam village is presented the State Culture History from the date May 19th 2006 by Hanoi People Council became the fist old village in Viet nam . it is in Son Tay commune with Ha Tay town in Hanoi.

Until now, Duong Lam village still keep almost the basic culture of the old village’s Vietnam with the old gate, banya tree, commune yard, pagodas, temples, the water wall, watch topic whore;…

Duong Lam has 9 villages with Mong Phu, Dong Sang, Cam Thinh, Doai Giap and Cam Lam… next together. All the villages are so tight together into customs, practices, beliefs from thousand years already.

Start short riding around the small simple villages in the scenic countryside, the hugely energetic hustle and bustle of urban development, stop by for visit Va Temple on the way to Duong Lam village.

The country-side landscape is so pretty as the peace full picture, the green plantation, paddy rice field, small channel water, thin bamboo bridge show on the river with small boats waiting in the shading trees. The visitors will play into the farmer as the history time in 19th century wearing with the old brown pyjama, non hat (bamboo Vietnamese hat), irrigating the plantation into green herbs vegetable by hands, carrying the short grances rice or the long grance rice through the swinging bamboo bridge.

Planting Rice

Visitors can cook their own dessert follow the traditional sweet cake of the old traditional Duong Lam village.

After lunch, take the bike and start cycling to the Mia Pagoda (other hamlet in Duong Lam village). The pagoda is built in 15th century containing 287 statues of different sizes. Bike then to Ngo Quyen temple and Phung Hung temple. These are two places are dedicated to Ngo Quyen and Phung Hung, the two National Heroes of Vietnam.

Cycle or bus back to Duong Lam village and return to your hotel in Hanoi. End trip.
